Overview
Dark matter is a matter that cannot be seen but has been inferred by the gravitational effects on light as well as the fact that some objects, such as the Milky Way galaxy, are displaying orbital speed that should cause stars to be flung off into space.
Key Concepts
Dark matter can bend the light from distant galaxies and this bending of light can be used to calculate the mass and distance of those distant galaxies.
